Just had my first data charges, it was down to a a bit of bot testing yesterday. Must have accidentally called GMPC too many times. Swines! OK, so it's only £1.11, but it's the principle...

So, a word of warning - be careful when testing!

"You incurred a charge in relation to usage on 27th of May of £1.11. We have not debited your account today. We want you to avoid being charged in future." (Yeah right!)

Does that mean they've wavered the fee as it's your first "offence"?

Good question. It sounds like they might. I guess we'll see tomorrow!

Just checked my account; they haven't taken the money so looks like they've waived it...what fine chaps they are!

Just shows you how much trouble you could get in, with a reckless bot going rampant,

I haven't had any charges yet (not that I'm aware of), I imagine it'd be easy to get some though. e.g. yesterday I adjusted a bot and fired it up - though I neglected to terminate the original copy that was already running - which could have been bad had it been a data greedy bot.

I don't really understand the logic for setting the charges so high.  Is anyone likely to have a strategy so dependent on fast access to data that it's worth paying them?  If not, BF are effectively just limiting access to 20 transactions per second - in which case why not implement it that way and save everyone a lot of trouble?  They obviously already have the technology to limit access to N transactions per second, because they use it on the free API.
