Just thought some of you might be interested in this:

I came to a similar conclusions with respect to betfair bots.

Did you actually join up to this forum so you could post that article? Is this some kind of sideways attempt to enlighten us to the error of our ways?
I'm not understanding your motivation for this post. What conclusion did you come to, is writing bots useless, or not? What is your point?

Chill out, maaaaan. The article is regarding poker bots so totally unrelated to what WE do. For someone like myself who can program AND play poker, it is slightly interesting but doesn't share anything that we didn't know 5 years ago. It's actually a long way out of date....things have advanced significantly since the days when those methods were "cutting edge".
As a non-poker player I thought the Guardian article was interesting - so thanks for posting it.
There was another article on poker AI and poker bots in New Scientist recently:
http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20026826.000-poker-bots-raise-the-stakes-for-human-players.html
But the Guardian article is more informative
I don't have a problem with the article itself, in fact I too found it to be interesting. I'm just having trouble figuring out this blokes motivation. Came across as some sort of reformed smoker - or a troll.
shows you how to build one here

Its wrote in sections so you have to root about his blog abit to find them
There is a key and important difference between poker and betfair sports exchange.
That is of course the poker rooms are fighting ( in front of the press at least ) to keep bots out, betfair
with their api are trying their best to encourage automated play.
cheers
