Hello to all,

I have been in "betting" for 5 years. At first it was only arbitrage betting with local bookies, after while i included online bookmakers. Nowadays it is almost impossible. Before 3 years i started modeling odds/markets on betfair using my own build neural networks, and finding correlation of odds in dependance of event which will potentilally occur at inplay for searching inperfection between markets which coould i use. I am still seeking for profitable tehnique..

P.S. Before an year ago i contacted birchy via mail for some explanation in code for betfair python bot. I wish to thanks him for that!

Hi there. I'm a computers engineer interested in pre race horse bets. I've been collecting data for 2 years from every UK horse races from the 10 minutes before start. I'm trying to automate pre race bets in order to make some money. I've not been succesed yet but I'm keep trying new methods and approaches :) Everyone is free to contact in order to discuss strategies or to ask for programming tips. I have all coded in python right now but still not NG. Thanks.

Hi

Pittsburgh Phil from FlatStats.

I use a bot to get betfair prices once a minute and another bot to place the odd bet or two. Have been doing this for years with PHP and using the old API but need to change to the API-NG pretty much tout de suite!

May need some guidance with this if I get stuck.

Hi guys, I'm new.  Been fiddling around with various systems and strategies over the last 10 years on and off.  I'm from a software engineering background, mainly vb.   I have acquired 3 kids in The last 5 years so it has hampered my progress a little. I have found that due to the lack of time I was missing bets for certain systems I had and this was costly so I wanted to automate the process as much as possible to a) acquire the data(scrape) and process/filter the selections and b) place the bets at the correct time.  Over the past couple of years I managed to code a couple of bots in vb.net that do simple but effective things.  I now find myself having to convert my code to suit the new api-ng, which inevitably led me here. So I hope to learn new code(Json) and also share some thoughts and ideas with other members although I do understand that no one will ever share winning systems.  Over the years my end goal was to have numerous fully automated micro systems running that would generate a second income but I never give it my full attention with most of my time spent with work, family, concentrating on my own bets. But with the markets being so accurate these days and so many other well educated minds trying to do they same I still wonder if its even possible to go fully automated over the longer term and I believe this is what has held me back.  I do recognise a few well know names on here that populate other forums and betting mediums and assuming they are the same people I believe I'm in good company.  Thanks.

Do you place any bets to be able to log data in the markets?
With API 6 I used to lay selections at 1.01 for £2 in the markets I was logging.  I heard of several people who had their accounts locked for using API without placing any bets.  No idea if that is still the same.

I've got a few ideas for Football and Tennis and I'm going to collect some data in those markets before looking at Horses.  My horse bot hardly makes anything these days.

Started coding yesterday and API-NG with Python seems a lot easier than what I remember about API-6 and VB.

Hi All,
My interests are Australasian horse racing. I rate every race for AUS,NZ and HK using a mathematical model.
Developing a robust bot to incorporate with my ratings has always been my goal. I'm a programmer by day, mainly in Delphi, but have been mucking around with Python on and off for a couple of years.
I haven't had much luck getting the new API-NG to go under Windows. Looks like an old version of "requests" is stopping the .pem certificate being read in correctly, not sure yet.
Definitely looking forward to hanging around here and sharing some ideas. Ideas is one thing I'm not short on.

Welcome to the forum! I don't think the PEM cert is required on Windows as I've helped a number of users get my sample bot up and running and they've used the .crt & .key pair without combining them into a single file.

Also, the latest version of "requests" can be installed using git clone: http://docs.python-requests.org/en/latest/user/install/

New to Ubuntu, Python and Betfair API-NG

Hi Everyone,
I have been manually trading and using various systems on Betfair for years, with absolutely no success whatsoever. I have no expectations of financial wealth and I am quite resigned to the fact that Betfair will always be just an hobby to me.

I have just dual booted my pc with Ubuntu and I am loving it so much that now I am getting carried away and want to learn how to program python. I can't really think of any reason to learn programming and so have decided to use it with my Betfair hobby.

What I need are simple and clear instructions ( using very easy to understand English).  I appreciate any help with this.

Kind Regards

Hello All,
I am from the UK and moving on to the new Betfair API in Python.  I have used Python on the old API and before then C#. I feel like I am on a go slow at the moment, as I get used to the new API.  I am also looking at Machine Learing and Data Mining/Processing. All the best to everyone.

Hello All,

I'm mostly interested in football but would like to learn more on the horses.
I've built several betfair bots but nothing to write home about. Hope to learn more here.

Thanks
