Hi there,

Just starting out... looking at the API and using Birchy's great Python bot code examples.

Is there a way using GetMarketTradedVolume, that you can isolate large individual bets going on a particular runner in horse race?  Matched or unmateched?

Or is there another call to use?

Cheers

OK... but that could be a collection of small bets added up together?  Couldnt it?  Does this show if there is a lot of money in one bet being placed?

Cheers

There's no way of knowing for sure how many separate bets/amounts are involved from the matched and unmatched values.

Even if one person puts a few K in they might place it as lots of smaller bets at the same or different prices, and on both sides of the market...

But if you are seeing amounts steadily going up in hundreds and then the total jumps by 5K or 10K it's likely to involve a big bet... That's about as much as you can guess.

As cran says, there's no way to see individual bets. Most of the big stakes punters will trickle their bets in as lots of smaller bets, mostly to avoid any sudden price swings and also to stay outside Joe Punter's radar. You could monitor the amounts staked in between refreshes but I suspect that you wouldn't be able to spot any significant bet sizes. Might be worth looking at getMarketTradedVolumeCompressed (get_market_traded_volume() in my library) but I can't say how useful that would be.

Agree with all the above but you do see some large trades during in-play sport where it looks like someone is getting in and out with large sums.  In the Murray vs Djokovic tennis on Sunday it looked like there was one punter in particular with £30k or more to play with.

In the main wouldn't large amounts be the bookies covering their exposure? Monitoring large percentage swings in the price might be a better way to go.
